Membership
We currently have an open membership policy and would welcome any interested parties to contact us to discuss becoming a part of The Levy.
All members are encouraged to take an active part within the group and we will help develop roles for members if needed.
On average we attend 15 events a year, generally between Easter and the end of October.
Members are free to attend as many or as few events as they wish each year, the only thing we ask of them is that they play an active role on the event site and ask them to remember that these are public events and that they must remain in "character" for the duration of the event.
The type of events differ from week to week, one week we may be at a small village fete demonstrating crafts and archery, then the next we are at a large inter-society event with large battles, archery competitions, trade stalls, living history encampments, beer tents, live music and medieval dancing. Ladies are able to portray any roles they wish, so if they wanted to put on a suit of armour and join the battle they would be very welcome to do so, the only proviso to that is that they would not be able to wear a long flowing dress under a suit of armour, they would have to wear "male" clothing instead.
Roles within the society
- Archers
- Combatants
- Craftsmen & women
- Medieval Tradespersons
- Muscians
- Jugglers/acrobats
- Camp followers
This is just a small selection of possible "roles" for the group, as long as its medieval in style a members can play any role they wish.
The most important thing with re-enactment is to make sure that you enjoy yourself, and I can assure you that we have a great time every time we put on our medieval clothing and take to the field!
Families are very welcome.
